Hey milady, 8xKaramel here, bringing you straight into the wild heart of degens and apes with The FOMO Files. From epic wins to facepalm-worthy losses, you'll hear it all. Most importantly, it will be real and personal.
Today, we've got a guest who's both a builder and investor. They're bringing alpha to the masses through the tool they're creating - AlphaScan. Let's start!
Karamel: Hey DegenMiami, glad to have you. I enjoy the tool you’re building and couldn’t pass on the opportunity to talk to you. Now tell me: what initially sparked your interest? Was there a particular coin that made you dive head first?
DegenMiami: What sparked my interest most is the general notion and potential that tokens have. It’s not one in particular, but what they are able to do in the future. I started with BTC / ETH initially but very quickly moved to other tokens (even if the return has typically been rather questionable haha).
K: Over time, has your perspective on crypto changed? What influenced this shift?
DM: With every cycle I get more bullish. The recent narratives are clearly showing that the technology is here to stay. It will definitely be a long fight but ultimately it can be a game changer for multiple industries. However, it’s important to start calling out scams more because they seriously hurt the industry.

K: What was your most significant win? What made it possible?
DM: DPX. I was part of the public sale. Despite being my biggest win I held on for way too long.
K: Now the other side of the coin - the biggest fuckup. What led to it and how did it influence you?
DM: Options. Worst decision ever thinking I knew what I was doing haha.
K: What projects or ventures are you working on? How do these align with your interests and skills?
DM: AlphaScan (alphascan.xyz). It’s already become one of the leading sentiment tools in crypto. Ultimately, it’s all about finding alpha and acting on it. With that in mind, we will be adding on-chain analytics features and couple all of the analytics with trading solutions. The vision is to deliver all of those features in a decentralized fashion

Where do YOU get your alpha? My thread about AlphaScan
K: What are your long-term goals? In other words, why are you here and how will you get where you’re going?
DM: I want to work on emerging technologies that will shape the lives of most people. Similar to how the internet or mobile fundamentally shifted how we interact with each other every day. Web3 will change how we look at value and transferring value.
thank you xx
K: How not to get REKT? How to win?
DM: Good question… not sure I’m the best person but for me it comes down to 3 things - 1. Don’t make oversized bets into one platform, 2. Take profits regularly, and 3. Don’t mess with things you don’t understand (learned that the hard way)
Options. Worst decision ever thinking I knew what I was doing haha
K: If you could give your young crypto self advice, what would it be?
DM: I mean… I hard about btc in 2011 and didn’t immediately buy. Just buy and hodl is the best advice in this space.
K: How do you foresee the future of crypto?
DM: As long as reasonable regulation enters the space, I foresee a very bright future. It’ll be a bumpy road but the potential is truly massive.
Speed round:
Overvalued: A lot of PFP NFTs…
Undervalued: BTC and ETH
My style in one word: take a deep breath first, then act 🙂
Most promising project: AlphaScan, duh ;)
NFTs are: mostly scams so far but the ones that are real are extremely promising (e.g., gen art)
Something I hate about this space: the recurring scams and rug pulls
Everyone should follow: Bob Loukas. Best long-term investor / trader in the space
From Karamel to Degen Miami:
Your advice to 'take a deep breath first, then act' is a gem and something I've learned along my journey as well. Maybe a bit too late haha. AlphaScan is certainly a project I'll be using, thanks for building it!
xoxo
Karamel
